Amazing GCSE Results at DHSG! Students at Devonport High School for Girls are once again celebrating fantastic GCSE exam results this year! Over 70% of all papers were awarded the top 9–7 grades. Many of our students achieved the prestigious Grade 9 (the highest possible grade). DHSG has proudly been named the Best State Funded Secondary School in the Greater Plymouth Area by the Real Schools Guide for a number of years – recognition of both our excellent academic standards and the wide range of extra-curricular opportunities we offer. Many of our Year 11 students will now be joining the DHSG Sixth Form in September to begin their A Level courses. Head Teacher, Lee Sargeant, said: "It is particularly pleasing to see the students achieve such fantastic results and I am extremely proud of them. They have worked incredibly hard and deserve every success. My thanks also go to the staff and families who supported them to achieve so well. I wish all the students the best of luck as they move into their next phase of education and very much look forward to welcoming back many of them into the DHSG Sixth Form." Fantastic A Level Results at Devonport High School for Girls! We are so proud of our A Level students this year – 64% of all grades were A*, A or B, with an impressive 11% achieving A*/A grades across every subject they studied. Once again, DHSG is among the top mixed-sex state Sixth Forms in the country for outcomes – and remains the highest performing in Plymouth and the surrounding area. Our students continue to secure places at top universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, and other Russell Group institutions, as well as heading into exciting careers. This year, we're thrilled to celebrate our first male student gaining a place at Oxford! A special shout-out to Douglas, Angel, Riya, Imogen, Akshita, Ella, Edie, Katerina, Erin, Charlie and Jess – just some of the students who achieved an outstanding set of A* and A grades. Assistant Head Teacher & Head of Sixth Form, Ed Lamb, said: "We are fantastically lucky to work with such a talented group of young people. These results reflect their diligence, determination and intellectual curiosity – qualities that will see them go on to become leaders in their fields. My thanks also go to their teachers, whose expertise and dedication have supported them every step of the way." What a perfect way to end the term! Thank you to all our students for making the final day so special from the energy and spirit in our end-of-term assemblies to the unforgettable (and fiercely contested!) Staff vs Sixth Form Rounders match. The sun even came out to cheer us on! We also said farewell to some cherished staff members who have made such a lasting impact. They will be deeply missed, and we wish them every success in their next chapter. Wishing everyone a restful, well-earned break. Here's to a summer full of sunshine, joy, and new memories.
