Massive Congratulations to Riya!
We are incredibly proud of Riya, one of our outstanding Year 13 students, who has successfully completed her Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Award!
Riya was recently invited to Buckingham Palace to receive her award a truly special recognition of her commitment, resilience and all-round excellence.
Balancing the demands of A-level Chemistry, Biology and Maths, Riya still found time to complete every section of the award with passion and dedication:
Volunteering – help coach young children at a local tennis club (1 hour/week for 12 months)
Physical – Sharpened her tennis skills through weekly training (1 hour/week for 12 months)
Skill – Developed her drama and acting abilities (1 hour/week for 6 months)
Expedition –
Practice: Dartmoor – 3 days, 2 nights, 60 km
Qualifying: Brecon Beacons – 4 days, 3 nights, 80 km
With a creative twist: a "Where's Daniel?" photo series, inspired by "Where's Wally?"
Residential – Took part in an Introduction to NHS Professions, hosted by Hampshire County Council at Basingstoke & North Hampshire Hospital (5 days, 4 nights)
Riya is a shining example of a student who has embraced every opportunity DHSG offers. We couldn't be prouder!
