Devonport High School for Girls is seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant to work as part of the Student Support Team contributing to inclusion at DHSG, with a specific responsibility to support the learning, educational progress and inclusion of a student with a visual impairment. The position is a fixed term contract of three years.
We are a highly successful and oversubscribed 11-18 selective grammar school with approximately 850 students on roll. The post-holder will be required to assist a student to enable them access the curriculum, participate in learning, and develop independence in learning and other aspects of school life.
Applicants will need a Teaching Assistant NVQ Level 3 or equivalent and have at least two years’ experience working with young people in an educational setting. They should be an be an excellent communicator and have the capability to build professional, positive and supportive relationships with young people. Previous experience or training in working with students with a visual impairment is desirable.
The post is for 32.5 hours per week (Monday – Friday, 8.45am – 3.45pm) for 39 weeks per year. The salary is Grade C, Points 5 - 7 (£19,312 - £20,092, actual salary £14,525 - £15,108).
